Who is the face behind Sweet Little Blooms?
I am Sarah Phelan – owner, florist, and baker behind Sweet Little Blooms. I have a background in Events and Styling and created this business around my two loves, flowers and sweet treats.

Where do you source your gorgeous blooms?
I go to the local flower markets daily and source the freshest, seasonal blooms. I love the surprise of the beautiful blooms at the markets each day (two days at the markets are never the same) and using my creativity to make something pretty out of the daily offerings.

What made you take the step of combining two of a girl’s favourite items and make it a business?
I have always had a love and sometimes obsession for both pretty flowers and baking. With a background in events, naturally, flowers and beautiful treats have become part and parcel with my styling. Realising this passion and a gap in the market for people to be able to enjoy blooms and sweet treats for a fraction of the cost, the idea of Sweet Little Blooms was formed.

Tell me more about events – what type of events do you primarily cater to?
I cater to most events – weddings, engagements, hen’s days / bridal showers, birthdays, baby showers, Christenings, special occasions (such as proposal or ‘will you be my bridesmaid’ cookies) etc. The cookies in particular can be customised to the client, with letterpress being a popular choice for many different events.

How long does it take to get a bundle of blooms together?
I go to the flower market each morning and bake the sweet treats daily. After playing around with the creation for the day and prepping the blooms, the posy jars themselves take a few minutes each to create.

Do the bundles change from day to day? Is that to accommodate for what’s best available / in-season?
Yes they do – the flowers change each day as the flower market is always bringing in new stock daily and I pick what is in season / what flowers and greenery go best together. It’s really important for me that I provide fresh flowers, and picking in season blooms ensures customers can enjoy the flowers for longer. I can guarantee the posy designs will always look very timeless, feminine and pretty, it’s my signature style. The sweet treats are baked fresh each day and as we grow, I hope to add in more options (like the mini lemon tarts and mini chocolate and salted caramel tarts we are offering for the weekend of Mother’s Day).

Do you cater to a variety of dietary requirements with your baked goodies?
At this stage we don’t, but, I am certainly looking into gluten-free and vegan-friendly options for the future for pre-orders. However, we do cater to dietary requirements for custom orders for events.

What flavours of baked goodies do you provide to your customers?
At the moment for our daily bundles include either vanilla or chocolate sugar cookies, with lemon tarts and chocolate and salted caramel tarts available for special occasions or custom orders. As we grow we hope to expand the range of sweet treats on offer, but for the moment customers are loving the cookies with gold leaf!

What’s your ideal clientele?

Girls of any age who love pretty little things and a little slice of luxury. Women love to spoil each other and are always thinking of ways to brighten someone’s day or let a special someone know they are thinking of them. For $35 the bundle is an affordable little slice of luxury. The simplicity and convenience of ordering online with same day delivery if ordered before 1pm has been very popular with partners as well! There’s no excuse now for forgetting a birthday or special occasion! The whole concept is about making gift giving easy and affordable whilst offering a high quality, luxurious bundle.

Do you have a physical store or are you primarily based online?
Online – orders are all online with the website and social media accounts being updated each morning with an image of the daily bundle on offer.

In one sentence, what do you want people to know about Sweet Little Blooms?
Sweet Little Blooms combines your two loves – flowers and sweet treats! Our pretty posies and exquisitely decorated sweet treats are sure to brighten someone’s day (or your own), providing an element of luxury at a fraction of the cost.

Why should people support your business?
The bundles suit any occasion – It’s a beautiful and affordable way to treat someone special (or yourself). We are passionate about using local wholesalers and suppliers for our flowers and sweet treats.

Is there anything else that you would like the readers to know about Sweet Little Blooms?
Pre-orders are now open for the weekend of Mother’s Day (we are delivering both Saturday and Sunday) with our signature cookies on offer as well as mini lemon or mini chocolate and salted caramel tarts. Pre-order is essential, orders close Friday 13 May unless sold out prior. We offer monthly subscriptions to make it even easier to send someone or yourself a little bundle.

We offer a ‘double’ bundle for $70 if you are something larger for a special occasion, it’s twice as nice as our standard bundle! We have plans to offer a daily bundle for men in the future (launching in time for Father’s Day)!
